Autumn update from Commissioner Stuart

Full Description:

Dear Neighbor,
It appears that autumn has officially arrived. Cool evenings will first give way to Halloween and soon Thanksgiving and New Year’s will be upon us. As we enter the busy Holiday Season, I wanted to write and share a few important community items with you.

Halloween is a wonderful time to walk your neighborhoods and talk with your neighbors. But let me remind you of a few important safety tips: Know your children’s route, take a flashlight, remind kids not to enter a stranger’s home or car, inspect the candy and fruit before allowing kids to eat them, turn on your porch lights, and DRIVE SLOWLY…there will be plenty of children in the streets. These tips, and plenty more are available on my District 3 web site (http://www.cityoforlando.net/elected/council/stuart.htm) under the District 3 newsletter link, so please print them out and share them with your friends and neighbors.

Autumn also brings plenty of outdoor activities all over our great city! For example, this weekend our downtown community will be hosting three events that will be happening around one of our City’s Jewels, Lake Eola, and will temporarily close many streets in Downtown Orlando. If you’re planning on participating or just visiting downtown, it’s a good idea to check out our city’s newly renovated web site (http://www.cityoforlando.net/) and type “Road Closure” in the search engine. This weekly updated report will give you a list of roads that will be closed due to both local events and construction.

Last, but most important…please take time to get involved in your local community. Many of our great neighborhoods will soon be enjoying the outdoors with their neighbors at fall festivals and other social events. If you aren’t already involved in your neighborhood, please take a few minutes to talk to your neighbors or read your community newsletter and find out what is happening in your area. As many of you know, District 3’s website also has a calendar component, so if you would like your neighborhood events posted there, please take a moment to e-mail them to me at robert.stuart@cityoforlando.net.

Enjoy the outdoors…enjoy your family…enjoy your City!

Sincerely,
Robert

Robert F. Stuart, Commissioner, District 3
