Orlando Police Department Crime Alert

Full Description:

INFORMATION: Recently there have been several residential burglaries in the South College Park area. The majority of the residential burglaries occurred between 7:30 am – 1:00 pm. The items that are being targeted include any and all valuables.

You can reduce your risk of becoming a victim by doing the following:
- Utilize your neighborhood watch phone chain.
- Secure all doors and windows, even if you are only going to be gone for a few minutes.
- Activate a residential alarm system, if your home has one.
- Keep valuables in a secure location within the home.
- Report any suspicious activity or person(s). You, the resident, know what activity is normal for your area. Call 911 when someone is acting suspicious.
- Be alert to your surroundings and get to know your neighbors.
- Write down serial numbers of important property.
- Utilize exterior lighting. (It only costs approximately $1.00 per month to keep a porch light on all night!)
- Participate in Citizens for Neighborhood Watch program.
- While away from your home for vacation or other reasons, forward your telephone to a family member, have a neighbor collect your mail, put the garbage curbside, and retrieve any newspapers/solicitations from your property.
- Make sure you have serial numbers recorded for the property that you own
